Why WAG
A Unique Approach From A Unique Leader
You put everything you had and everything you believed into a concept that became a company. It’s the culmination of dreams, and a daily reminder of perseverance. You drive conviction deep into the organization by giving a part of you to every step. And it’s worked well….until now. Almost overnight, it seems like the proven ways have become dead-end paths. The easy steps stretch to longer strides. And all the energy that pushed the team forward seems to be dissipating. Your gut tells you to be worried, and as is often the case, your instincts are probably right.
The Friction Point
Is the company broken? No, but you have reached a new friction point – the extremely challenging transition from start-up to grown-up. It’s an evolution that every business faces, and ultimately embraces to reset and rethink the road ahead.
We should know. Pete lived it, he led it, and he – mostly – loved it. This critical transition phase for start-up and high growth companies has been the through-line of his 25+ year career. He has done it as an Executive six different times (three of which he was the CEO), and has experience with more than a dozen other similarly situated companies as mentor, coach or Board member.
From Start-up to Grown-up
And for this current phase of his journey, Pete shifted his focus from leading the evolution to helping define it and guide it with others. He understands the enormity of the challenge and the tremendous value at stake, and wants to help Founder CEO’s – and their leadership teams and Boards – change the odds as relates to outcomes.
The Approach
You’ve acknowledged that you need help – that’s a great first step. But now you’re swimming in a mind-boggling menu of options on where to get it – generalist executive coaches, one-off specialists narrowly focused by issue or discipline, consulting firms with templated solutions that are commonly focused on clients 10x your size (with price tags accordingly!), and well-intended referrals from Board members, your next door neighbor and Uncle Mel. Ugh.
We personally confronted that very same frustration and confusion. So we’ve built what we offer based on what we wanted and needed – and wish we’d had available to us – throughout our operating careers. We then validated the approach through dozens of conversations with Founder CEO’s, venture capitalists, and private equity investors – and got a whole lot of vigorous head-nodding.
It’s an approach that is practical, relevant and flexible – and that delivers fast results and enduring impact. It’s a unique combination of lived experience, human-centered principles and personal drive that deliver insights and measurable results for your business as you and your team navigate the challenging path to organizational maturity. And it works.
